Knobs and Buttons I

Blair Vaughn-Gruler

Knobs and Buttons I and II are the motherboards of mixed media, using  dimensional pieces of wood and twine immersed in layers of oil paint to reference object over illusion.

Circles, squares ellipticals and dots were dancing across the surface, only to become captured by the paint and juxtaposed with ghost drawings of other shapes, perhaps their ancestors?

There is the technology reference, the craft-making feeling, the rhythm and flow of language and of course the viscosity of the paint, all joining together for a semiotic mash up. Designed to push buttons and pull knobs, in a good way.

oil and mixed media on wood and canvas

36 x 48 x 1.5
