Coherence from chaos. Or the light bulb coming on when understanding finally happens. These are just a couple of ways to think about this painting.

It also sets a narrative image (the little tangle of string) onto an “all-over surface,” in a deliberate demonstration of polarity forced into mediation. It’s fun to think about what that might mean.
