Here are the thought bubbles of a compulsive thinker: orderly and symmetrical, equidistant and consistent until, of course, they are not.

This painting contradicts itself in all the best ways. The watery blues and silly turquoise emerge from the droll (but beautiful) grey ground, while irregular scribbles and strings mediate the interior spaces. The bubbles live on a translucent illusion that you can peer into until it becomes a flat painted surface that asserts itself on the other side of the canvas.

After all, what else is there besides contradiction and illusion?
