Both the mark making and the title reference the impulse toward repetition and order that are used to make sense of the world. Fiber arts, women’s work, industrialization, compulsive organization, and a desperate attempt at holding on to mental health are all referenced in Knit Stitch, with a tongue-in-cheek , self deprecating sense of humor and a few drips for good measure. It’s a cheerful painting when all is said and done.
