Ernst Gruler

Gruler builds his own cradled wood panels that are textured and then painted with artist acrylics and water based metallic paint. His paintings are typically material and process driven. In the As I Imagine series, marks are made with pencil and various line weights of Sharpies. Gruler says “No erasing or backing up, I set the marking tool to surface and begin to move as I imagine. As I imagine I move”.
