Larry Luchtel

“Some have described my sculptures as “line drawings in space” or “prehistoric spirits” revealing emotional truths and existential realities. Natural Creatures  exist somewhere between the plant and animal kingdoms, expressing thought and intention.

My sculptural technique is called “lost wax” bronze casting, which has been part of our civilization for over 4,000 years. Modern methods can produce hair-breadth detail. These sculptures are naturally grown, precisely edited and faithfully cast in solid bronze. What I see growing in my garden is what you see in bronze.”

Larry grew up in Nebraska and after college went on to a career in graphic design and advertising. Years of meticulously tending his garden led later to express his enchantment with nature through his bronze sculptures. Larry holds an M.F.A from the University of Virginia and resides in the Hollywood Hills area of Los Angeles, California.
